Homemade Candles
Well hello lovely people! I was in a DIY mood this morning, and decided to make some candles! I also made some sample Lavender lip balm for a craft show I am doing tomorrow night!! Ok so I love using candles during the fall/winter time. It doesn't feel cozy without some candles going, and the smell of christmas. Well, it still feels like summer here in AZ. It was raining a couple of days ago, which made AZ nights feel sooooo wonderful, but with rain comes bugs. We also have a fly problem here in our neighborhood. It's annoying. Any who, after the rain had died down it felt so beautiful outside, so we decided to do dinner outdoors. To prevent the bugs from buggin' us, I whipped up these Citronella & Peppermint candles. Super easy to make and it took no time. I had them out on the table before dinner was ready! And YES once the candles where burning, it seemed like the flies stayed away from our food and our faces. One thing my husband didn't like about the candles is that he wasn't to excited about the citronella smell. I don't mind it one bit, but my husband did. SO if you have a picky nose like my main squeeze does, I would mix in some more Peppermint! I also ended up making a candle out of my Christmas Spirit Essential Oil. I've been waiting SO long to open this baby up! I am a winter kinda girl!! I love getting cozy... Sweaters, vest, jeans, boots, OH AND who can possibly forget my obsession with PUMPKIN EVERYTHING! Starbucks only gets my business during the winter season. Serioulsy, only time I ever go there. IM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT!!! Ok Let's get to the candle recipe. Use whatever Young Living Essential Oil you would like :) I will post later about the best combos to use during the holiday season!

I measured out about 1/2 cup of soy wax and placed it in my glass measuring cup. Since I was making just one or two, I placed my measuring cup in the microwave for 2 minutes, and watching it. If you are making a huge batch I would melt the wax in a glass bowl over a pot of boiling water(side note: please be careful while handling the boiling water).

While the wax is melting, grab your glass container and place the wick in the middle. To hold it still I placed a Skewer over the container. like this...

I let the wax cool down for a bit before mixing in the Essential Oil.

I put about 15 drops of Citronella Essential Oil and mixed it. Then I poured the mix in the glass jar! BAM super easy! I put an extra 5 drops Citronella Essential Oil in the glass jar. Let your beautiful candle sit for a couple of hours. Now your set! This will also make such a great stocking stuffer for Christmas!! Totally easy DIY and thoughtful! Hope you enjoyed!
